This study deals with an important jurisprudential issue, which is the penance for wrongful killing. The current study also examines the concept of penance and its types, and then discusses the wrongful killing and its penance in order to answer to the questions of this study, which are whether there are multiple penances for the number of those killed. The study is divided into two sections, the first is concerned with the definition of atonement, its types and the point behind it. The second defines the concept of wrongful killing, its provisions and penance. This paper also implies the provisions of the multiplicity of penance for the multiplicity of the murdered. The study reveals results that the penance for wrongful killing is obligatory for all of those who kill intentionally or cause it. The penance is a purification of the soul and repentance to Allah Almighty for the act committed. Regarding the penance for the wrongful killing, if there are more than one killed, the current study showed that it is confined for the act only (the killing) not for all the murdered to guarantee their right to blood money and this is sufficient for them. As for fasting, it is repentance to Allah for the act.
