Analytical Study of Mango Crop Production the in Kufra Region

This study aimed to identify the key factors influencing mango production in Kufra Municipality by estimating a production function and examining the major constraints faced by mango growers. Primary data were collected through a field questionnaire administered to a sample of farmers, and econometric analysis, including stepwise regression, was employed to determine the most influential production inputs. The results showed that the estimated model explained approximately 69% of the variation in mango output (R² = 0.69). The total production elasticity was estimated at 1.36, indicating increasing returns to scale. Stepwise regression excluded compound fertilizer (X2) from the final model while retaining the variables with statistically significant effects on production. Average input use was 29.3 kg/ha of farmyard manure, 108.57 kg/ha of urea fertilizer, 128.25 trees/ha, and 3 man-days/ha of labor. The findings highlight the potential for improving mango productivity through more efficient use of production inputs and enhanced technical and agricultural extension support for farmers in the study area.
