"Qur'anic Readings with Three Grammatical Cases in Surat Al-An'am: A Syntactic-Semantic Directing Study"

Abstract

This research examines the syntactic and semantic interpretation of Qur’anic readings that exhibit three grammatical cases (nominative, accusative, and genitive) within a single word in Surat Al-An‘am, focusing on selected words: (Rabbana), (Fatir), (Ash-Shams wal-Qamar), (Al-Jinn), and (Badi‘). Utilizing a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study documents both mutawatir (frequent) and shadhdh (irregular) recitations, analyzing their structural and semantic dimensions as presented by scholars of Qur’anic readings, grammar, and exegesis. Findings reveal that shifts in grammatical cases fulfill significant rhetorical and semantic functions: shift to the accusative denotes specification or vocative, the nominative implies resumption or predicate status, while the genitive establishes dependency and genitive construction. Ultimately, these variations enrich Qur’anic meaning, expand exegetical perspectives, and highlight the linguistic inimitability of the Qur’anic text
