purity according to the Maliki jurists, considering that purity is a basic condition for the validity of acts of worship. The research relied on tracking the statements of the Malikis in their approved sources to reveal their approach in observing leniency and strictness in the two purities under study.
The research concluded that the Malikis tend to balance removing hardship and achieving the intended legal purpose; and to provide relief in cases where hardship or an excuse prevails, such as incontinence, lack of water, ignorance of impurity, or lack of time.
The research also showed that leniency in Maliki jurisprudence does not mean violating the rulings, but rather it is an application of the objectives of Sharia in removing hardship, while strictness comes within the framework of protecting worship from tampering and disregarding the commands of Sharia, which reflects the depth of Maliki jurisprudence in combining Sharia discipline and mercy for those obligated.
